Dr. Sowmya Velamala is a Consultant Pediatric Neurologist with specialised training in the evaluation and management of neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions in children. Her expertise covers a wide range of neurological concerns, from epilepsy and developmental disorders to headaches, movement disorders and neuromuscular conditions.
Her clinical interests include pediatric epilepsy and EEG interpretation, neurodevelopmental disorders, sleep disorders in children, movement disorders, headache and migraine, neonatal and perinatal neurology, neuromuscular disorders, and neuroimaging interpretation.
With a holistic and family-centred approach, Dr. Sowmya focuses on careful evaluation, individualised treatment planning and compassionate long-term care, while helping families clearly understand and manage their child’s neurological needs.

Experience
- Specialised experience in the comprehensive evaluation and management of pediatric epilepsy and different types of seizures
- Expertise in EEG interpretation and neurophysiological assessments, including routine, sleep and video EEG
- Experienced in managing neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, learning difficulties and behavioural concerns
- Expertise in the evaluation and long-term management of pediatric headaches and migraines
- Experienced in neonatal and perinatal neurological care, including high-risk newborns, HIE, perinatal stroke and developmental follow-up
- Skilled in managing sleep-related epilepsy and other sleep disturbances in children
- Experience in the management of movement disorders, including cerebral palsy, dystonia, tics, tremors and other movement abnormalities
- Experienced in diagnosing and caring for neuromuscular conditions, including muscle weakness and neuropathies
- Skilled in the interpretation of MRI, CT and other neuroimaging for pediatric neurological conditions
